If you’re a web designer, graphic designer, or a designer of any kind, changing from color to their hexadecimal counterparts is something part of the job... is like breathing. So, Google is making things way to easy allowing you to search colors and find their Hex code.

Although, as anything, this has some rules and limitations. For example, you can’t search “red to hex” or “color to hex”, this won’t work. But you can do “rgb to hex” or “#f00000”, this will work.

But no matter that, try it out and see how it is. I know that it will save a lot of time to a ton of users.

How to Disable or Lock your Keyboard

I tend to be lazy to a lot of stuff, and one of them is unplugging cables from my PC. Nobody likes to do that, and that’s something required for cleaning your keyboard. So I decided to do another thing, disable it for few minutes, and here’s how I did it.

Thanks to HowToGeek I found this portable app called KeyboardLocker. What it does in disable all the inputs coming from your keyboard.

It’s really easy to use, press Ctrl+Alt+L to lock/disable, and then type “Unlock” to enable it again. Easy as hell. This is nice if you don’t want people using your keyboard also.

AdBlock Plus starting to sell ads, time to switch to uBlock Origin

In recent news, AdBlock Plus will be starting to bypass certain ads if these comply with some criteria that the company sets. Since we don’t know what they consider as “criteria”, we better switch to something else right away.

And that’s when uBlock Origin comes in. I read about it a lot before this news, but I made the change recently due to being lazy.

Main differences? Well, mostly the interface, and some RAM and CPU improvements over ye olde ABP. Also, the way that it allows you to block elements in the webpage reminds me a lot of how ABP worked on Firefox, that allows you to block elements in real time, instead of setting rules and stuff.

Anyway, switch to it as soon as possible. You won’t regret it.

How to get the global site on Facebook Pages

I did something similar a while back, but I just realized that that method is obsolete. So here’s the new way to do it.

Go to the page (in this case will be SteelSeries), hover on More, then click on Switch Region.

Now select the region you like, I recommend default since it’s the main site, but choose the one you want.

And that’s it, no more redirection crap... I hope.

Cheating on Fallout Shelter for PC

Ok, I really enjoy Fallout Shelter, specially now that I discovered a little trick: changing the clock.

Let me explain this: while playing the game, move the clock of your computer, or even the day, to a future one. Just follow these steps.

NOTE: This works while playing the game online or offline.

1. Make sure to know which day of the week is noted on the Daily Report (this way you can always get lunchboxes). And also remember the day of your computer and time... just in case you go to far and forget it.

2. Change the date (or hour) a little back to a few days or hours. Just enough to fit the time you’re looking for: days for daily report, hours for quests or exploring.

3. Now return it to the time it was.

4. Wait a couple of seconds, this happens as soon as you hit “Change”.

5. Done.

Fallout Shelter for PC, for Free

Today I came from work, sat on my PC and found out that Fallout Shelter was now being released on PC. I’m downloading it right now.

Aida64: What’s the difference between Extreme, Engineer, and Business

So I decided to try Aida64 to see how it is, and as many software that exists all over the Internet, it has several versions, 3 to be precise; Extreme, Engineer, and Business. So if you’re a average user, download the Extreme.

Let me tell you the differences as simple as possible:

• Extreme: perfect for average user. It has benchmarking (which is why you’ll use it mainly), and a pretty detail hardware report.
• Engineer: exactly the same as extreme. I actually didn’t find any difference on the interface, nor in the preferences, or anything. The only difference they mention on the website is that this one works on “workstations and servers”.
• Business: design for IT support. The main point of this version is that has a Remote option that allows the user to access another computer to monitor it, check the system information, and control it. Not only that, it has a database and audit manager. Ergo, NOT FOR AVERAGE USERS.

Reddit is now tracking your clicks. Here’s how to disable it

In a recent update, reddit decided to implement a tracking system to monitor users’ clicking under the feature “Allow reddit to lot my outbound clicks for personalization”. This is most users hate, and that’s why we use adblockers, the ads are tolerable, but tracking is not. Anyhow, here’s the easy way to disable it.

Go into your Preferences, scroll to the bottom.

Just disable that one and you should be done.

Can’t install Fonts on Windows 10? Try enabling the Windows Firewall

Here’s a quick tip for you Windows 10 users. In order to install fonts without any problems, you need to start the Windows Firewall service.

Why? I don’t know, but if you can’t install them because of an error. Give this fix a shot. It may be all you need to do.

How to permanently hide Facebook Right Sidebar using Adblock Plus

Saw that? I hate that. I don’t care about anything in that sidebar, so I decided to hide it. Here’s how to do it. First you need to install an ad blocker, in my case Adblock Plus. I’m not saying it’s the best, just the one I’m most familiar with at the moment.

So, let’s keep showing you my Google account information. This time is my search history, something that you can’t disable from this page, you can only delete items and see them.

Something curious that I read on this reddit thread is that you can use this tool to keep a tab on your children’s history, something that, as a technician, many parents ask me to block websites and services from theirs. By looking at their history, I think that the job would be easier.

Anyway, remember that even though you are deleting items from this list, it doesn’t mean that Google is deleting it from their servers. Avoid searching anything you don’t want tracked.

YSK how to check your Google Location history

Something I just learned. If you go into your Google account you can see your location history, which are the places where you log into your Google account, this includes PCs and mobile devices.

You could disable this, but by doing this, according to Google, Maps and Now may be not work correctly. And don’t worry, the alerts that say that you’re account is being accessed from X location will still be enabled and working without problem.

Just remember something important, there is still a chance that Google keeps recording your location whether you disable this or not, so the best thing you can do is disable any location services on your PC and your mobile.

How to install .net Framework 3.5 on Windows 10

One of the things I don’t like about W10 is that you need Internet to install .net Framework. This wasn’t necessary on XP or 7, only on 8.1 and 10, but gladly there is a way to avoid this.

You need 2 things:

1. An ISO of your current OS (if it’s 10, an ISO of 10).
2. An admin command prompt.

After having these 2 things, mount the ISO and open the command prompt. Type the following.

Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /All /Source:D:\sources\sxs /LimitAccess

Where “D” is the letter of the drive where the ISO is mounted. Like this.

Press enter, and wait a few seconds. The process is quick and it’s not harmful to your OS in any way.

YSK about YouTube “Continue Watching” section

Just a little tip for those who use YouTube on PC: if you stop watching a video at any point, there is a chance that the video will be added to a section called Continue Watching.

What’s so special about this? Well, apparently it will play the video where you left off, which is amazing if you like watching really long videos (my case) and have a really bad memory (also my case).

Anyway, just remember that the section in there in case you need it.

YSK you can use Shift in Google Maps

Google Maps and Google Earth are slowly merging... or at least sharing feature. This is one that I recently discover thanks to reddit, and is that if you hold Shift while moving the mouse, the whole map becomes 3D, just like Sim City or Cities Skylines.

Although if a very useless trick, it’s still amazing, and shows how amazing the technology is these days. We live in the future already.

YSK the shortcut to create a New Folder on Windows

Really short post. Here it is.

Ctrl + Shif + N

Done. A new folder is created.

Add This PC, Recycle Bin, and User folder to Windows 10 desktop.

Remember how easy it was to add these items to Windows’ desktop? On Windows XP and 7 it was easy as hell, just two clicks. In Windows 8 and 8.1 it became a little bit more complicated, adding several clicks to the process. Now, on 10, it just plain ridiculous. Let me show you the way.

First, go into the Start menu > Settings.

Then, Personalization.

And then, Themes > Desktop icon settings.

There we go.

How to remove Skype add banner inside the chat window

I don’t use Skype a lot... Well, actually I don’t use it at all, but it remains one of the most popular and commonly use video calls/chat/messages software there is. Only competing with WhatsApp or Facetime. Actually, I invented that, I don’t know if it’s even still used today, but anyway, here’s how to remove the add banner on the chat window.

First go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Restricted sites > Sites.

In there, add the following address:

Ta-da. Presto... in theory, it’s an old trick that I have no way to know if it still works, so try it and let me know.

Yup, that’s my desktop, and that’s the old Desktop Destroyer that was used when Windows 98 was still popular. Really, it is, and it works perfectly.

Yes, it may turn your desktop into a 16 bits mess (is that 16 bits?), but still is a great time waster, popular, and perfect for children since they won’t break anything.

JDownloader 2.0 portable and ad-free

I love JDownloader, since it’s release it has been my choice to download everything; from YouTube videos to direct download sites, everything.

It supports A LOT of different formats, thousands of sites, it’s easy to use, and a lot of more stuff, and the best part is that when you install it, it also allows itself to be portable, meaning that you can take it around with you and it will update as long as you have Internet.

DWS: Destroy Windows 10 Spying

This is one of those cool apps that override Windows’ crazy stuff that no-one wants. It allows you to do a lot of different stuff. Let’s see:

• Disable Windows Update.
• Disable Windows Defender.
• Change the image viewer from the Photos App to the classic photo viewer.
• Delete One Drive.
• Uninstall all metro apps.
• And other stuff too.

Now, according to the site, Microsoft included within W10 a bunch of spyware, keyloggers, and all that kinds of stuff, and this program disable all of that, but I don’t use for that only, I use it for the features.

The app works flawlessly, and even though it takes it’s time, I’ll still recommend it to anyone who want their PC as clean as possible.

Reinstall any Windows 10 default app

When I do a clean W10 install, I always uninstall all default apps. Why? Because most of these are useless and, to me, a waste of space. So I uninstall them... or should I say, disable them. Even though you think the apps are uninstalled, you can still install them again manually, and it’s very easy. In this example I’ll install Solitaire again.

First open Windows PowerShell and use the following command

get-appxpackage -allusers

After a few seconds a bunch of stuff will appear, just ignore most of those and look for the app you want to reinstall.

In this case I’m looking for Microsoft Solitaire Collection.

After finding the app, copy the PackageFullName. In this case.

Microsoft.MicrosoftSolitaireCollection_3.3.9211.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe

Now, use the following command:

add-appxpackage -register “C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.MicrosoftSolitaireCollection_3.3.9211.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\appxmanifest.xml” -DisableDevelopmentMode

That’s it. You’ll see something like this.

And that’s it. The app is installed.

How to unmount a Hard Drive using the command prompt

I love using the command prompt, aka “cmd”. Or if you’re using W10, you can use Windows PowerShell. The result will be the same.

Now, how to this. Basically, I can explain everything with one picture, but I’ll type the command before posting it.

mountvol X: /d

“X” is your drive, btw.

That’s it. This is way easier and quicker than this.

And as always, here is all the information you need to know about this command.

How to remove a Hard Drive with Windows running.

Three things:

1. Yes, you can do this.
2. Make sure that you have ACHI enabled in the BIOS. If there is no option, you can’t do it.
3. Make sure you DON’T remove the hard drive where Windows is installed. I cannot stress this enough.

If you read those points and are still here, it means that you know what you’re doing and I’m just going to explain things fast and simple... as possible.

A little note: Most times you can’t remove a drive because it’s in use, that’s why you need to unmount it first, then you can remove it safely... or that’s the idea.

First try this. If by doing this the drive ejects, everything is cool, remove it and that’s it.

If by any chance you weren’t able to remove it that way. Here’s another thing that even Microsoft recommends.

Open the Control Panel > Administrative Tools.

In there, go to Computer Management.

Now, be careful. Select the volumes of the drive that you want to disconnect. In this example I want to remove F and G. Right click the volumes, and click Change Drive Letter and Paths.

In the next window click on Remove.

Do this with all volumes. Then you can remove the drive.

I’ve done this with dozens of drives without any problems. Just make sure to AHCI enabled. Why? Because AHCI support hot swapping.

Prevent Windows 10 from showing recently used items

Let me show you this.

That’s a mess, and this applies to Chrome, the run prompt, steam, and almost any app on your system. Let’s disable that since I know many people hate it.

Go to Settings, this is the faster way to do it.

In there go to Personalization > Start.

The option you want to disable is Show recently opened items...

The result. You’re welcome.

Disable Windows Defender on Windows 10

I know, I know, disabling your antivirus can cause security issues and stuff. Well, I don’t care, let’s disable it.

Open the Group Policy Editor, aka, gpedit.msc.

Feel free to touch anything you want in there; there are pretty clear descriptions on each element, so if you mess your PC, that’s on you.

We need to go the following folder:

Computer configuration > Administrative templates > Windows Components

In there search for the Windows Defender folder. In there you’ll find a policy setting named Turn off Windows Defender. Double click it. Set it to Enabled.

That’s it. You don’t even need to restart your pc or anything. Good bye, Windows Defender.

Disable Security Center notification in Windows 10

If you like customizing Win10 just like me, the first thing you did was disable the Security center service, like this.

Then you noticed an annoying notification poping up each time you start Windows (I don’t have an image showing it). And when I say annoying, I mean it. So, let’s disable it.

Download this little .reg file and double click it. What this file does is gives you like a “super user” privilege on the files you choose. Now, what to do?

Go to C:\Windows\System32, find these two file:

ActionCenter.dll

ActionCenterCPL.dll

Use the “Take Ownership” on each of those, and modify the name.

I never recommend deleting the files or changing the name to something hard to remember. Just add an “.old” at the end, or do like me and add a “--“ at the beginning.

And that’s it, restart you pc.
