Disable Microsoft Sync Center

sync

Do you have any idea of what Microsoft Sync Center is? Neither did I, that’s why if you don’t need it, disable it. According to Microsoft:

Sync Center allows you to check the results of your recent sync activity if you've set up your computer to sync files with a network server. This allows you to access copies of your network files even when your computer isn't connected to the network. Sync Center can tell you if the files synced successfully or if there are any sync errors or warnings.

So, it’s the service that takes care of syncing files and folders between networks and devices. If you don’t use this, is just a waste of startup time.

You can’t actually disable using a Windows tool or any third-party tool, the only way to do it is getting rid of the root itself. Go to C:\Windows\System32. You want to rename the file called “mobsync.exe”.

sync2

Two things I always say:

  1. Keep the rename simple, something you can remember and can go back to the previous file easily
  2. If you can’t rename it (privileges), you can use Unlocker.

Whenever you turn on your PC, you won’t get an extra process. Hurray!
